August Wahh

Philippines

August Wahh debuted in the late 2000’s and has since become a force in the Philippine music scene, sharing the stage with the likes of Fred Wesley and Taylor McFerrin, and opening for Erykah Badu, Daniel Caeser, and RAC.

Born and raised in a militarized province in the southern part of the Philippines, August grew up around nature and danger. She moved to Manila in 2007 to pursue her passion and calling in music, bringing with her a unique worldview shaped by a rich experience. Over the years, she has collaborated with a diverse selection of musicians from around the globe.

“We are born only half ourselves – the other half is our expression.” – from Roots, 2015

As a songwriter, she finds inspiration in the synergy of chaos and serenity, the brilliant and mundane. She constantly strives to convey the human experience in her art. Her 2019 EP with renowned producer crwn is a melodic story called Labyrinth about bringing one’s self out of a dark place, keeping your cool, and keeping it real.

Following her Wonderfruit Festival debut in December 2019, August Wahh released her first solo single, ‘Know What I Want’ and was chosen as one of the 36 global emerging artists on the 2020 Spotify RADAR program. She released the single ‘Elated’ along with a tour-diary style lyric video during the lockdown – and is set to grace the rest of 2020 with more music, bringing with her her ringing lyricism and refreshing sound.
