Bangkok Music City

About

‘Bangkok Music City’ or ‘BMC’ is Thailand’s first international music conference and showcase festival, which its inaugural event was held between 1-3 November 2019 with the music conference held at TCDC Bangkok in the Chareonkrung area, aka ‘The Creative District‘ while 8 showcase stages were hosted in venues scattered around the area. It was co-founded by Fungjai – a music platform, media, event organizer and marketing agency; and NYLON Thailand – a media, publishing and event organizing company. Both companies are deeply involved in the local music scene of Thailand and understand its potential to become one of the nation’s economic drivers.

BMC 2019 showcased 58 Thai and 20 international artists from 9 countries; and was attended by 3,434 attendees (75% Thai : 25% international) with 33 Thai and 62 international speakers and delegates from 18 countries. As for BMC 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical event had to be shrunken in scale for both the conference and artist showcases. The event showcased 39 Thai artists on 3 physical stages and 41 international artists from 14 countries on a virtual stage. The conference featured 70+ speakers (100% local) and the physical event was attended by 1,050 attendees. 69 international delegates from 20 countries watched the showcases and attended speed meetings with artists and their management virtually. And because of the uncertain situation, BMC 2021 is planned as a hybrid physical-virtual event like BMC 2020.
